The Other War - Oliver North
It’s a war the so-called mainstream media has apparently decided to ignore. Though the death toll is higher than Iraq and Afghanistan combined, it evidently isn’t worth covering; and unless you’re reading this in the American southwest, you probably haven’t even heard about it.
The conflict, a full-blown narco-insurgency, has claimed the lives of more than 17,000 combatants and innocents, threatens to undo several democratically elected governments and poses a real and present danger to the United States. It’s not the one being fought in Afghanistan. It’s the war being waged from the Andean basin all the way north to the Rio Grande.

City of Dallas Killing Small Business
Showing complete disregards for the free speech rights of small business owners, the City of Dallas bans businesses from putting commercial signs in the upper two-thirds of any window or glass door, and on more than 15 percent of any window or glass door. Only ineffective signs are allowed by the government: tiny signs placed at people’s feet. The law also bans signs that cover more than 25 percent of a building’s façade. Failure to take down the signs means you are at risk to be hit with a fine up to $2,000.

Explosives Theft Qualifies As Near Miss For USA
Imagine tons of explosives being stolen in Mexico and then transported by truck across the border into the United States. Could it happen? Over the weekend, it did. Almost.
On Friday, according to an article in the Latin American Herald Tribune, 18 tons of industrial explosives were stolen from a cargo container during a robbery along the Monterrey-Saltillo Highway in the northern Mexico state of Nuevo Leon. According to subsequent reports, Mexican officials located and recovered the stolen explosives within hours. The thieves, however, remain at large.

Whatever happened to Van Jones?
Ordinary folks working in private industry who publicly make outrageous, unproven statements about their chief executive, or just don't get the facts right are usually fired or forced to quit. Finding new employment, especially in this economy, is often quite difficult. But if the person works for the government, especially in the upper echelons, such misconduct is often rewarded with a better job with a higher salary, more perks and a platform to criticize those who behave responsibly.
Remember Van Jones, the "environmental justice advocate" (not my description) or "environmental czar" (ditto) who served as a White House adviser on "green jobs" to President Barack Hussein Obama (D) until forced to resign when his communist affiliations, his belief that President George W. Bush (R) allowed September 11 to happen and other irresponsible behavior became public?
According to Juliet Elperin of the Washington Post, Jones has emerged unscathed, reborn as a university professor, "a distinguished visiting fellow at Princeton University's Center of African-American Policy."

White House strategy backfires as GOP rules the summit
A couple of weeks ago, President Obama attended a GOP retreat in Baltimore and engaged several Republicans in conversation about several issues. While the GOP didn't come off looking half as bad as the media reported, there is little doubt that the president was better prepared, more at ease, and gave the impression that he was in total control of the event...In contrast, it was the president's turn to look ill at ease - sometimes even contemptuous of his foes.

Obama, the Chicago Boys, and their 30 Billion Dollar Slush Fund
The Obama administration is seeking to exclude from federal oversight its new $30 billion dollar small-business lending program. Obama's rhetoric about transparency during the campaign was as phony as his vow to end the era of lobbying (last year was that industry's best year ever in Washington)...Senior Treasury officials have told the financial bailout program's inspector general that they are considering excluding a new $30 billion small-business lending initiative from the watchdog office's oversight...

Sen. Jim Bunning (R-KY) holds floor and tells Dems.: 'Tough s--t'
Senate Democrats spent Thursday night hammering away at Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) for single-handedly holding up action in the upper chamber – but he blurted out a message to one of them on the Senate floor: “Tough s—t.”
In an unusual display in the normally sleepy chamber, Bunning – without the support of GOP leadership – has blocked efforts to quickly approve a series of extensions to measures that would otherwise expire Sunday, including unemployment insurance and the Cobra program that allows people who lose their health benefits to continue getting coverage.

Accidental Discovery Pieces Together Ancient Biblical Manuscript
Two parts of an ancient biblical manuscript separated across centuries and continents were reunited for the first time in a joint display Friday, thanks to an accidental discovery that is helping illuminate a dark period in the history of the Hebrew Bible....Together, they make up the text of the Song of the Sea, sung by jubilant Israelites after flanuscript brought to Jerusalem. The new exhibit chronicles how the Song of the Sea was written through various ancient manuscripts, from the 2,000-year-old Dead Sea Scrolls to the manuscript known as the Aleppo Codex, written nearly a millennium later....
